Date: November 20, 2023Mumbai- Tata AutoComp Systems Limited., an auto-component supplier has inaugurated its manufacturing facility for state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The plant was inaugurated by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power and Arvind Goel, Chairman, Tata AutoComp Systems. The lithium-ion-based BESS will be manufactured under its joint venture Tata AutoComp Gotion Green Energy Solutions.
The company will manufacture battery energy storage systems for Tata Power with the first set of BESS being handed over to Dr. Praveer Sinha. These will be deployed in the construction of 120 MW Energy Storage Park at Chhattisgarh.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said that, We are pleased to work together on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with Tata AutoComp. Energy storage is now essential to addressing the sporadic nature of solar and wind energy supplies due to the development of renewable energy sources. We plan to incorporate these BESS into our renewable energy installations in order to provide a continuous supply of clean electricity and expedite the transition to green energy.
Mr. Arvind Goel, Chairman, Tata AutoComp Systems said that, Utilizing our expertise in the automobile industry, we are catering to developing markets that share technological advancements. When it came to introducing lithium-ion battery packs and BMS to the electric car market, we were innovators. With this understanding, we are now developing battery energy storage systems. We will provide these BESS to Tata Power, one of the Tata Group's premier integrated energy companies.
The new facility is spread over 22,227 square feet with the BESS facility having capacity of 6 GWH to serve the emerging energy storage industry.
