Date: August 24, 2024Mumbai- Tata Motors is set to launch the Nexon CNG, which was first introduced as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2024. The launch will follow the release of the Curvv coupe SUV's petrol and diesel versions on September 2. Nexon CNG will feature two gearbox options, including an AMT gearbox, and will be India’s first turbo-CNG vehicle.
The Tata Nexon CNG, showcased with a 5-speed manual gearbox at the Bharat Mobility Expo, is expected to launch with an AMT automatic gearbox. Anticipated to be one of the most powerful CNG vehicles in its segment, the Nexon CNG will retain the standard SUV’s design but include mechanical upgrades to the suspension and iCNG badges. Powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, it will be Tata's third model after the Tigor and Tiago to offer a CNG-AMT combination.Nexon CNG is expected to be launched around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom price). The CNG vehicle will be offered with a unique twin 60-litre CNG tank and a usable boot space of 230 litres.
The Tata Nexon CNG features a single ECU that allows seamless switching between CNG and petrol modes, with the ability to start directly in CNG mode. It also comes with an NGV1 nozzle for faster refueling. Unique in its segment, the Nexon offers a range of powertrain options, including CNG, petrol, diesel, and EV. Tata Motors, the first to introduce a twin-cylinder CNG tank with a 60-liter capacity, now faces competition from Hyundai. The Nexon CNG will go head-to-head with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.
