A DRAM and NAND assembly and testing facility will be designed and built as part of the project in India.
Date: September 26, 2023Sanad- TATA Projects Ltd., an Indian EPC company, announces its collaboration with Micron Technology in a venture to construct an advanced semiconductor assembly and test plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
The project covers a sizable 93 acres of land and is located in the Chaarodi, Sanand district of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation. One of the greatest investments made as part of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) is this long-term initiative. A 500,000 square foot cleanroom will be built as part of Phase 1 and should be operational by the end of 2024.
A DRAM and NAND assembly and testing facility will be designed and built as part of the project in India. Tata Projects aspires to adopt cutting-edge building practices, such as hybrid modular rapid construction and integrated EPC delivery through 4D BIM. In order to enable predictable delivery, foresee hazards, and minimize them, a specific technical platform must be created to capture the engineering, procurement, and construction components.
The Sanand Factory will be built in accordance with the Green Building Council's LEED Gold Standards and incorporate cutting-edge water-saving technologies to enable a Zero Liquid Discharge system, demonstrating the Tata Project's dedication to environmentally friendly and accountable building methods.
Speaking on this collaboration, Mr. Vinayak Pai, MD & CEO, Tata Projects said, “We are thrilled to embark on this significant journey with Micron Technology, an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions. This collaboration exemplifies the unwavering commitment of Tata Projects to advancing technology, promoting sustainable development, and contributing considerably to ‘Make in India’ initiative. Through this classic venture, we are not just building a state-of-the-art semiconductor assembly and test plant; we are laying the foundation for India’s technological prowess on the global stage.”
Micron’s Senior Vice President of Global Assembly and Test Operations Gursharan Singh said, “We’re excited to break ground on Micron’s new assembly and test facility here in GIDC, Sanand, Ahmedabad, India, and lead this transformation in India’s semiconductor industry. Micron selected Tata Projects to construct our new facility because of their strong track record of delivering high-quality projects on schedule, on budget, and with the highest safety and ethical standards.”
