Toyota launched the All-New Urban Cruiser, a compact battery electric SUV featuring a powerful design, spacious interior, and advanced technology.
Date: December 13, 2024Brussels, Belgium - Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA., a car manufacturing company, has introduced the All-New Urban Cruiser, a compact battery electric SUV with a powerful design, spacious interior, and advanced technology. Developed from the Urban SUV Concept, it aims to strengthen Toyota's presence in Europe's competitive electric vehicle market and expand its all-electric lineup.
The introduction of the Urban Cruiser is a key step in Toyota’s multi-path strategy, offering a broad range of electrified drivetrains in Europe. By 2026, Toyota will have 15 zero-emission vehicles, including six battery electric models. This expansion, along with plug-in hybrids, full hybrids, and fuel cell vehicles, aims to reduce emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
The Urban Cruiser stands out with its bold, SUV-inspired design, featuring a “hammerhead” front end and striking rear light arrangement. It measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase and a 5.2m turning radius. Its aerodynamic alloy wheels come in 18 or 19 inches, and the exterior offers a range of colours, including bi-tone options with a black roof.
All Urban Cruiser versions come with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, and lane keep assist. A 360-degree camera system provides a full view of the surroundings for easy maneuvering and parking.
The Urban Cruiser is built on a new BEV platform dedicated to battery electric vehicles. This strong structure provides a spacious interior while offering protection for high-voltage components. Its design eliminates the need for floor crossmembers, allowing more room for the battery.
