Delhi- Triumph Motorcycles Ltd., is the largest UK-owned motorcycle manufacturer, has expanded its portfolio in India with the launch of the much-anticipated Scrambler 400 XC. Carrying forward Triumph’s rugged heritage and off-road spirit, the Scrambler 400 XC is purpose-built for riders who crave adventure, without compromising on everyday usability. Exclusively available in India, this model blends traditional scrambler styling with modern technology and engineering finesse.

At the heart of the Scrambler 400 XC is a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. Tuned for versatility and responsive torque, the motor delivers a maximum output of 40 PS (39.5 bhp) at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch, the engine provides a smooth, controlled ride whether you're navigating city traffic or exploring off-beat trails.

The engine is paired with a Bosch electronic fuel injection system with electronic throttle control, ensuring optimal fuel efficiency and responsive throttle action. The motorcycle returns a claimed mileage of 27 km/L, making it practical as well as playful.

The Scrambler 400 XC is designed with an adventurous intent. A hybrid spine/perimeter tubular steel frame with a bolt-on rear subframe provides a sturdy yet lightweight base. The twin-sided aluminium swingarm, paired with 43mm upside-down Big Piston forks at the front and a gas-charged monoshock with external reservoir at the rear, offers 150 mm of wheel travel at both ends—perfect for tackling rough terrain.

To reinforce its scrambler credentials, Triumph equips the bike with spoked tubeless wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm front disc with a four-piston radial caliper, and a 230 mm rear disc with ABS. Riders can switch to Off-Road ABS mode and disable traction control for better control on loose surfaces.

Styling is true to Triumph’s Scrambler DNA—bold, purposeful, and unmistakably classic. The bike sports a high-level front mudguard, colour-coded flyscreen, black two-piece bench seat, and knee pads for that authentic scrambler look. Protection elements such as lower engine bars, an aluminium sump guard, hand guards, and a steel radiator guard ensure durability on challenging rides.

The analogue speedometer with an integrated multi-function LCD display balances vintage charm with modern functionality. A cockpit-mounted USB-C socket adds practical convenience for gadget charging on the go.

With a seat height of 835 mm, a wet weight of 190 kg, and a wheelbase of 1418 mm, the Scrambler 400 XC promises stability and comfort. Its geometry—23.2° rake and 108 mm trail—is tuned for nimble handling both on and off the road. The 13-litre fuel tank offers decent touring range, while torque-assist clutch and switchable traction control make it beginner-friendly.

While the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC is currently exclusive to the Indian market, its design and features clearly position it as a serious contender in the entry-level adventure segment. With a 10,000-mile (16,000 km) / 12-month service interval, it also promises low maintenance and high reliability—making it a practical choice for Indian riders.

The Scrambler 400 XC brings classic British scrambler style, modern engineering, and real off-road capability to Indian motorcyclists in a compact and accessible package. Whether you’re riding through urban streets, winding mountain roads, or unpaved country trails, the Scrambler 400 XC is ready to deliver an authentic, adventurous ride every time.
