Haryana- Uno Minda Limited., an auto component industry, manufactures a wide range of automotive parts, including switches, horns, lighting systems, seating, and EV components, has completed the acquisition of the remaining 49.90% stake in its electric vehicle subsidiary, UnoMinda EV Systems Private Limited, from German partner FRIWO Gerätebau GmbH. The transaction, valued at ₹141.28 crore, was announced on June 30, 2025, and involved the purchase of 1,69,66,000 equity shares, increasing Uno Minda’s ownership in the subsidiary to 100%. With this, UnoMinda EV Systems has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Uno Minda Limited.
The acquisition aligns with Uno Minda's strategy to consolidate its electric vehicle business and strengthen its position in India’s growing electric mobility sector. The full ownership enables Uno Minda to have complete control over the subsidiary’s operations, technology roadmap, and strategic direction.
In a related development, Uno Minda, through UnoMinda EV Systems Private Limited, has also completed the acquisition of the e-drive business assets, intellectual property rights, technical know-how, and the research and development team based in Germany from the Friwo Group. These assets include control hardware and service software critical to EV drivetrain systems. This strategic move enhances Uno Minda’s technological capabilities in the EV space, enabling deeper in-house innovation and product development.
Furthermore, the acquisition of Friwo’s e-drive business assets in Vietnam is currently underway and is expected to be completed on or before July 15, 2025.
FRIWO Gerätebau GmbH, known for its expertise in power supply systems and electronics, had originally partnered with Uno Minda to jointly develop EV components by combining FRIWO’s technical knowledge with Uno Minda’s market reach. With the end of this partnership and the successful transfer of assets and ownership, Uno Minda is now positioned for independent growth and innovation in the electric vehicle component sector.
The acquisition was formally executed and communicated to the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited in compliance with regulatory requirements. Tarun Kumar Srivastava, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer at Uno Minda Limited, signed the transaction.
