Paris, France – Valeo, an automotive supplier and technology company and Nissan have announced a new agreement to introduce a complete EV charging solution for the European market, beginning with the United Kingdom.
The partnership includes two charging technologies: a Smart Unidirectional V1G AC charging station that meets the UK EVSCP standard, and an Advanced Bidirectional V2G AC charging station designed to support Nissan’s Vehicle-to-Everything energy services.
Through this agreement, Valeo will supply key electrification technologies for Nissan’s connected energy ecosystem, helping both companies strengthen their presence in the growing electric vehicle charging market.
Valeo will showcase the new bidirectional charging station and its wider EV charging portfolio at Power2Drive Europe in Munich from June 23 to 25, at Hall 6, Booth 416.
From EV Charging to Energy Freedom: Unlocking the Full Potential of V2G
Electric vehicles are no longer just transportation products. They are becoming active energy assets within the wider power ecosystem. This development highlights a major shift, as eligible Nissan EV drivers can move from smart one-way charging to intelligent two-way energy exchange.
Valeo’s EV charging offer covers two key solutions:
Connected Unidirectional Charging (V1G):
This smart AC charging station adjusts charging based on grid signals and electricity pricing. It complies with the UK EVSCP standard and helps drivers reduce charging costs while supporting grid stability, without adding hardware complexity.
Smart Bidirectional Charging (V2G):
This technology enables energy to flow between the electric vehicle and the grid. Power stored in the EV battery can be sent back to the grid during high-demand periods, helping reduce energy costs, balance electricity supply and create new value for vehicle owners.
With Valeo’s V2G charging technology, compatible Nissan electric vehicles can operate as mobile energy storage units, supporting both households and the wider electricity grid.
For eligible Nissan EV drivers, the benefits include lower electricity bills, smarter use of off-peak charging, the ability to use stored vehicle energy during peak price periods and better integration with home solar power. Drivers can also contribute to sustainability by helping stabilize the grid and support renewable energy adoption.
The commercial rollout will begin through Nissan’s network in the United Kingdom, followed by expansion into other European markets.
Ms. Isabelle D’Ambrosio, Vice President Smart Mobility at Valeo, stated “This major contract with Nissan represents a decisive step in Valeo’s ambition to shape the future of electric mobility. By combining Valeo’s technological leadership in bidirectional charging with Nissan’s vision for an integrated energy ecosystem, we are redefining the electric vehicle as a critical asset for the grid. Together, we are accelerating the energy transition across Europe, with innovative solutions that benefit both drivers and grid stability.”
Mr. Soufiane El Khomri, Nissan Energy Services Director declared: “This agreement with Valeo marks a concrete step in how Nissan is redefining its vehicles as energy assets, not just mobility products. By integrating Valeo’s bidirectional charging technology into our V2X service offer, we are giving our customers in Europe the tools to actively manage their energy, reduce costs, and contribute to grid resilience — while driving the transition to a smarter, more sustainable energy model.”
