Paris, France- Valeo Inc., will be at Busworld Europe, taking place in Brussels from October 7 to 12, 2023, to showcase its innovative thermal management technologies for buses of all sizes and drive types.

Valeo is dedicated to creating greener mobility solutions and technology to lower CO2 emissions and enhance comfort on board buses and coaches. Valeo will emphasize thermal management systems for buses at Busworld Europe 2023. These systems will provide uncompromised thermal comfort, the highest level of safety, and fleet-efficient solutions with zero emissions.

High-performance mobile energy storage devices that improve travel comfort are needed to support the rapidly expanding electrification of mobility, notably in public transportation. The E-Cooler solution from Valeo, which enables a variety of battery temperature control models with a maximum cooling capacity of 10 kW, will be on display in Brussels. The E-Cooler protects the battery from overheating during charging and discharging and cools it while driving in hotter conditions and under heavier loads, depending on the situation. If more heating is required to regain the ideal temperature range, the delicate batteries are even warmed up.

Furthermore, inventive and effective HVAC solutions for buses are required because traction batteries have a limited amount of electrical energy available. No matter the weather, the size of the vehicle, the powertrain type, the mode (urban, suburban, or long-distance), or the length of the trip, Valeo technologies offer comfortable interior climate for passengers and effective solutions for fleet owners.

The most recent air conditioning system from Valeo for buses with alternative engines, the REVO-E HP R744, will be unveiled at Busworld 2023. This device uses a small, reversible heat pump to effectively cool and heat the interior of the electric vehicle while using little energy. Even at freezing outside temperatures below 5°C, energy-saving heat pump operation is made possible by the special dynamic de-icing on demand system. R744 is a natural refrigerant used in the system. The use of this refrigerant at ambient temperatures between -20° and +50°C is made possible by its chemical characteristics and a specifically designed control system. This indicates that the cooling/heating capacity is produced in accordance with energy availability and demand.

The system is impressive for its further notable weight and noise emissions reductions, as well as its straightforward refrigeration circuit. The compressor's integration allowed for a small system footprint, a low refrigerant charge, and minimal energy usage. Low life cycle costs are ensured by the refrigerant circuit's lack of maintenance and its sturdy components.

The inbuilt battery cooling module maintains the battery at a consistent temperature, increasing efficiency and extending its useful life. Similar to Valeo's REVO classic system, the new REVO-E HP R744 offers the same user interface. This provides the maximum installation and product mix freedom for the car maker. The system is "plug & play" and can even be pre-filled before being supplied to the consumer.

Valeo's technological innovations guarantee proper airflows while utilizing less energy and recoverable energy. Valeo, a leader in e-heating and an expert in bus air conditioning, will demonstrate a high-voltage heater for electric buses that steplessly controls the heat output. To do this, either the water outlet temperature is managed, or the maximum heating output or power usage is constrained. Thermo HV, a high-voltage heater that has been in continuous production since June 2023, can now be actively incorporated into the vehicle's thermal management, improving the system's total efficiency. With a 450–850 VDC voltage range, the Thermo HV provides a consistently high heat output of 12kW. Its 12kW/800V model is considered unrivalled

Valeo has become a manufacturer of high-end water pumps, covering a wide range of applications, for buses and trucks, agricultural and construction machinery, off-highway and commercial vehicles. Also displayed in the Valeo booth.
