Suolahti, Finland - Valtra Inc., a subsidiary of AGCO Corporation and an agricultural equipment manufacturer, has introduced its latest sixth-generation S-Series tractors to the Australian and New Zealand markets. Built at Valtra’s Suolahti plant in Finland, the new lineup features significant upgrades in engine, transmission, and cab design.
The range includes six models, delivering between 280 and 416 horsepower. Each tractor is equipped with a new AGCO Power 8.4-litre engine that complies with Stage V emission standards without relying on Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). Instead, the use of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR or AdBlue) enhances combustion efficiency and helps the engine run cooler.
Mr. Mark Hamilton- Manns, Product marketing manager for Valtra in ANZ, said, “The Series gains a new engine, transmission and cabin from the previous version, with six models from 280-416hp, each powered by a new Agco Power 8.4 litre engine which, says meets Stage V regulations without the need for EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). Using SCR (AdBlue) and avoiding EGR improves the engine’s combustion efficiency and means the engine runs cooler.”
The ML260 CVT transmission features upgraded hydraulics and a reinforced PTO drivetrain. A larger 125mm rear axle improves torque transfer and durability, further enhancing power efficiency. Cab design has also been updated, sharing a frame with Valtra’s N, T, and Q Series tractors. The new cabin improves airflow distribution and includes options such as TwinTrac reverse-drive controls and the Skyview cab for enhanced upward visibility.
Valtra’s S6 tractors offer Valtra Unlimited options like the Central Lubrication System (CLS) and ISOBUS-controlled Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS), with tyre pressure shown on the SmartTouch display. The SmartTouch interface also supports automated headland turns, including U-, Y-, and K-Turns.
With a 3,092mm wheelbase - 93mm longer than the Q-Series, the S6 range is well-balanced (45% front, 55% rear) and supports a gross weight of 18 tonnes. It features a 12-tonne rear lift capacity and an optional 5.8-tonne front linkage. Hydraulics deliver 200 l/min at 1,650rpm, with a twin-pump option and six spool valves, one handling up to 170 l/min. Separate transmission and hydraulic oil systems reduce contamination and service costs, aided by long oil change intervals.
The sixth-generation S-Series combines power, precision, and efficiency, making it a compelling choice for large-scale operations in Australia and New Zealand.
