Väderstad, Sweden- Väderstad AB., manufacturer of agricultural machinery, has launched the PD 1350 air cart in North America. With a total capacity of 1,350 bushels, it boasts the industry’s largest capacity, allowing for longer periods between refills. The PD 1350 also features advanced precision seeding technologies, including the Fenix III metering system, section control, iCon wireless control, and variable rate capabilities.
The new PD 1350 cart includes four bins with capacities of 93, 652, 392, and 213 bushels. This design extends time between refills and maximizes uptime in the field, while providing farmers plenty of options for the placement of multiple types of seeds and fertilizer.
Väderstad upgraded the PD1350's front steering axle to support its 1,350-bushel capacity, ensuring even weight distribution on dual VF710/70R42 flotation tires for smooth handling and reduced compaction. The rear axle features dual VF900/60R42 tires with hydraulic disc brakes for enhanced control.
The PD1350 includes the same popular features as Väderstad's Precision Delivery Air Carts, such as the Fenix III metering system for precise, consistent product flow and easy maintenance. With eight independent sections, Väderstad's Section Control Technology prevents overlap planting to reduce input costs by stopping metering on previously seeded ground and lifting the openers to avoid disturbing existing seed and fertilizer.
The iPad-based iCon wireless control system offers user-friendly management of the air cart, featuring industry-leading tools like acres-to-empty, in-field calibration, and variable rate seeding. Bin load cells provide real-time data on seed and fertilizer levels for accurate monitoring.
Mr. Chris Bettschen, Business Development Manager, said, “Farmers will be able to seed over 200 acres of canola per fill, potentially covering 45 or more acres per hour. “It provides a huge advantage for farmers needing to seed a large number of acres in a small amount of time.”
