Pontedera, Italy- Vespa, a scooter brand under Piaggio, has unveiled a limited-edition line paying homage to one of the most storied corners of its heritage: Officina 8. Once the beating heart of innovation inside the Pontedera plant, Officina 8 was the company’s experimental department, where Vespa’s boldest and most revolutionary designs were born in the post-World War II era.
Established in the late 1940s during Europe’s period of reconstruction, Officina 8 was home to an elite team of designers, metalworkers, test riders, and mechanics many of whom came from aviation backgrounds. This secretive workshop became the birthplace of historic achievements, including the original Vespa prototypes, racing machines like the “98 Corsa,” and the Vespa that shattered 17 world speed and endurance records. Each vehicle crafted in Officina 8 embodied a blend of fine Italian craftsmanship and cutting-edge innovation.
In honour of this legendary space, Vespa has now introduced the Officina 8 editions of its most beloved models: the Vespa Primavera (available in 50, 125, and 150cc variants) and the Vespa Gtv 310, the sportiest and most performance-focused Vespa ever produced.
These exclusive models feature a signature Blu Officina 8 colour—a rich industrial blue with a matte metallic finish, reminiscent of old factory equipment and the uniforms once worn by Officina 8’s elite team. Satin-finish metal accents add a vintage touch: aluminium trims outline the shield and lights, while brass embellishments highlight the steering cover grille and wheel rims, the latter finished with precision-cut diamond accents.
Reinforcing its roots, each scooter comes with a modernised version of the original “Piaggio 8” blue-and-brass pin, once worn only by Officina 8 workers. A three-dimensional backplate reinterprets this historic symbol for the modern rider, combining nostalgia with elegance.
The dual-stitched saddle, detailed with polished brass rivets, reflects Vespa’s dedication to artisanal craftsmanship. The Vespa Gtv Officina 8 also includes a rigid body-colour front fairing that pays tribute to the brand’s competitive racing history, enhancing its sporty flair.
Equipped with matte black bar-end mirrors and sporty detailing, the Officina 8 editions blend timeless styling with contemporary functionality. These models not only celebrate Vespa’s storied past but also extend an invitation to today’s riders to be part of a legacy defined by innovation, elegance, and passion.
The Vespa Officina 8 collection is more than a scooter—it’s a rolling tribute to the brand’s most daring chapter, where tradition meets vision in every detail.
