Beijing, China - Volkswagen Group, an automobile manufacturer, is steadily advancing its “In China, for China” strategy by aligning its offerings more closely with local customer expectations. At Auto China 2026 in Beijing, the Group is showcasing its biggest product push yet for smart electric vehicles, highlighting the speed and precision with which it is adapting its portfolio for the Chinese market. During the Volkswagen Group Media Night, the spotlight is on the Volkswagen, Audi, AUDI, and JETTA brands, featuring four world premieres and a new generation of locally developed electric models.
Mr. Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen Group, said “Three years ago, we launched our ‘In China, for China’ strategy to fully tap into the potential of the Chinese innovation market. We decide, we act, we deliver. The new models we are presenting at this year’s ‘Auto China 2026’ impressively confirm that the Volkswagen Group is making good progress on its path to becoming a global tech driver in the automotive industry. China plays a central role in this. Because the progress we achieve here strengthens our competitiveness worldwide.”
Mr. Ralf Brandstätter, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG for China and Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, said “Our ‘In China, for China’ strategy is coming into its own. In less than 36 months, we have developed a completely new product portfolio for China. Starting in 2026, we will launch a new vehicle on average every two weeks. This is the Volkswagen Group’s largest-ever electric mobility offensive. The Beijing Auto Show underscores the consistency and speed of our realignment.”
In 2026, the Volkswagen Group plans to introduce more than 20 new electrified vehicles to the market, including fully electric models, plug-in hybrids, and range-extender variants. Alongside these launches, the Group will also roll out a range of updated internal combustion engine vehicles. This broad product offensive reflects Volkswagen Group’s commitment to building a portfolio that is closely aligned with the preferences and needs of Chinese customers.
At the center of this strategy is the Volkswagen Group Media Night on April 21, where the company will showcase ten models from the Volkswagen, Jetta, and Audi brands, including four world premieres.
The Volkswagen brand will highlight four NEV models developed through its three local joint ventures. Among them are two global debuts: a new addition to the ID. UNYX lineup, developed in just 24 months, and the first fully electric model in FAW-Volkswagen’s ID. AURA series. This vehicle is built on the Group’s locally developed high-performance CEA E/E architecture and brings together the latest smart technologies, advanced digital systems, and a bold new design language.
JETTA will also mark a major step in its electrification journey with the world premiere of a new all-electric show car. This debut represents a significant milestone for the brand and is aimed at making smart electric mobility more accessible to a wider customer base, opening the door to new market segments and audiences.
Under Audi’s dual-brand strategy, the Four Rings and Four Letters brands will present four premium passenger vehicle models. One of the key highlights will be the world premiere of the exterior design of the AUDI E7X, the second production model under the new AUDI brand. Its interior design will be revealed shortly afterward at the Auto China 2026 exhibition. Audi will also showcase the latest version of the iconic Audi A6L, the all-electric Audi A6L e-tron, and the AUDI E5 Sportback, which has been named the 2026 China Car of the Year. Adding to the excitement, the Audi R26 F1 show car will also be displayed following the Formula 1 race in Shanghai, bringing a strong performance-driven element to the event.
During Auto China 2026, the Group’s brands will continue to unveil additional highlights. Among them, Porsche will present the global debut of a new model in its all-electric Cayenne family. Combining emotional design, sporty character, and impressive electric performance, the new model is set to stand out as one of the most dynamic offerings in the SUV segment.
