Wolfsburg, Germany - Volkswagen Group, a Motor Vehicle Manufacturer, has unveiled the new ID. Cross, an all-electric compact SUV combining bold styling, premium-class technology and practical everyday usability. With an expected entry price of around €28,000, the model offers high levels of comfort, quality and equipment for the small and compact vehicle segment.

The interior features premium materials, fabric-covered surfaces and comfortable seating, while the new Innovision infotainment system provides intuitive controls and connected functions. The ID. Cross will be available with three power outputs—85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW—and two battery options of 37 kWh and 52 kWh. Offering a WLTP driving range of up to 427 kilometres, it is suitable for both daily commuting and longer journeys. Advance sales in Germany began on 15 July 2026.

Volkswagen ID. Cross Brings Premium Technology to the Compact Electric SUV Segment

Volkswagen has expanded its new generation of affordable electric vehicles with the ID. Cross, joining the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI. The compact electric SUV combines modern design, advanced technology, everyday practicality and competitive pricing.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, said the ID. Cross brings together strong engineering, clean styling, practical solutions and versatile performance while delivering excellent value for money.

      Compact Size with Greater Practicality

The ID. Cross measures 4,153 mm in length, 1,794 mm in width and 1,581 mm in height, with a 2,601 mm wheelbase. Despite its compact dimensions, the MEB+ platform provides generous space for five occupants.

The SUV offers 475 litres of boot capacity, 20 litres more than the combustion-engine T-Cross. An additional 25-litre front storage compartment provides convenient space for charging cables and smaller items.

      Modern Exterior and Premium Interior

Volkswagen’s new Pure Positive design language gives the ID. Cross a clean, confident and friendly appearance. Key features include a floating-roof design, a strong C-pillar and distinctive front and rear lighting signatures.

Optional IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps, illuminated light bars, 3D LED rear lights and illuminated Volkswagen logos further enhance its appearance.

Inside, the SUV features fabric-covered surfaces, premium materials and tactile controls. The cabin combines physical buttons with digital functions to create a comfortable and user-friendly environment.

      Digital Cockpit and Infotainment

The ID. Cross comes with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro and a centrally mounted 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen.

A retro display mode recreates the instrument design of the original Volkswagen Golf, while integrating modern information such as energy consumption, output and road-sign recognition.

      Electric Powertrain and Charging

Built on Volkswagen’s updated MEB+ electric platform, the ID. Cross uses the new APP290 front-wheel-drive system. It will be available with three power outputs:

      • 85 kW or 116 PS
      • 99 kW or 135 PS
      • 155 kW or 211 PS

Customers can choose between 37 kWh and 52 kWh battery packs. Both versions support 11 kW AC charging.

The 37 kWh battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 23 minutes using a 90 kW DC charger. The 52 kWh battery supports up to 105 kW DC charging and completes the same charging cycle in approximately 24 minutes.

      Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems

The ID. Cross offers several technologies normally associated with larger and more expensive vehicles.

The optional Connected Travel Assist uses online data and can respond to traffic lights. Within system limits, it can detect a red signal and automatically slow the vehicle to a complete stop.

One-Pedal Driving allows drivers to control acceleration and much of the vehicle’s deceleration using the accelerator pedal alone.

Additional parking technologies include a 360-degree Area View camera and Park Assist Pro, which can manage parking manoeuvres automatically. Compatible smartphones can also be used for remote parking.

      Comfort-Focused Driving Experience

Volkswagen has tuned the suspension to provide stable handling, precise steering and high levels of long-distance comfort. Noise- and vibration-reduction measures are designed to create a quiet driving environment.

An adaptive DCC suspension will be offered on the 155 kW version. The system continuously adjusts damping according to road conditions and driving style, balancing comfort with more dynamic handling.

      Trim Levels and Features

The entry-level ID. Cross Trend will include 90 kW DC fast charging as standard.

The Life trim adds equipment such as:

      • 18-inch alloy wheels
      • Dual-zone climate control
      • Adaptive cruise control
      • Rear-view camera
      • Junction assistance

The top-spec Style version includes IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps, illuminated exterior elements, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, personalised interior trim and keyless entry and start.

      Premium Optional Equipment

Volkswagen will offer several high-end features that are uncommon in the compact SUV segment. These include a 425-watt Harman Kardon sound system with 10 speakers and a subwoofer.

Electrically adjustable 12-way front seats will also be available with a pneumatic massage function offering three programmes. The driver’s seat includes a memory function.

A large panoramic glass roof measuring 74 x 90 cm extends into the rear passenger area and includes an electrically operated sunblind.

      Vehicle-to-Load and Towing Capability

Vehicle-to-load technology is included as standard, allowing the ID. Cross to power external electrical equipment at up to 3.6 kW. This can be used to charge devices such as electric bicycles through an optional adapter connected to the vehicle’s charging port.

Versions equipped with the 52 kWh battery can tow trailers weighing up to 1,200 kg, making the SUV suitable for small caravans, boats or motorcycle trailers.

      Pricing and Availability

Advance sales began alongside the vehicle’s world premiere on 15 July 2026.

Customers in selected markets can initially order the 155 kW version with the 52 kWh battery in Life and Style trims, with prices starting at €36,525.

The entry-level ID. Cross Trend, featuring an 85 kW motor and 37 kWh battery, will follow with a starting price of €27,995. Additional powertrain and equipment options will be introduced later.
