Las Vegas, USA – Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE)., a construction equipment manufacturer, has introduced the new SD70 soil compactor at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, expanding its soil compaction portfolio with a machine designed to deliver premium performance in a cost-efficient package.
The SD70 is a 66-inch, 7-ton single drum roller engineered to offer the same drum performance as the company’s SD75 model, while featuring a simplified design to improve cost efficiency for contractors and rental fleets.
According to Volvo CE, the SD70 combines durability, fuel efficiency and simplified operation, making it suitable for value-focused operations. The machine also comes with Volvo’s lifetime frame guarantee, reinforcing long-term reliability.
The compactor uses the same advanced drum design as the SD75, offering multiple vibration frequencies, dual amplitudes and optimized centrifugal force to ensure consistent compaction performance across varying soil conditions.
Powering the SD70 is a 74 hp Volvo Tier 4 Final engine, designed to deliver strong torque at low engine speeds while maintaining low fuel consumption. The engine also features passive regeneration, allowing automatic filter cleaning without interrupting machine operation.
The operator station has been designed for comfort and visibility, providing a spacious platform and optional canopy sunshade. Volvo CE also highlights easy serviceability, with ground-level access for maintenance to help reduce downtime and improve productivity.
For machine monitoring and fleet management, the SD70 is equipped with CareTrack telematics as standard, with an option for ActiveCare® Direct, enabling real-time machine monitoring, weekly performance reports and proactive maintenance alerts through Volvo’s Uptime Center.
With the introduction of the SD70, Volvo CE aims to offer contractors a reliable and efficient compaction solution that balances performance, durability and operating cost.
