Eskilstuna, Sweden - Volvo Construction Equipment AB (Volvo CE)., a construction equipment manufacturer, has debuted its upgraded L260 wheel loader, showcasing a host of next-generation features at the 2025 World of Asphalt. Designed to move more tons at a lower cost, the new L260 aims to increase productivity and ease of use through advanced automation technologies and operator-friendly improvements. A standout feature of the updated L260 is its automatic bucket fill technology.

Mr. Eric Yeomans, Product manager for wheel loaders at Volvo North America, said, “When going into the pile, the operator simply holds the kick-down button for two seconds. The system then takes over throttle control, lifting, and the bucket-fill function. What we're doing is monitoring torque from the transmission and axle rotation. The system engages the front differential automatically when conditions demand it, in either first or second gear, up to 7 mph.”

The result is consistent bucket weight and sustained productivity, even during long shifts when operator fatigue typically reduces efficiency.

Also new on the L260 is Automatic Traction Control, now standard on the front axle. This system is designed to optimize traction by automatically engaging the front differential when needed.

Volvo has improved serviceability and operator safety with a new right-side service platform, enabling maintenance with secure three-point contact. Additionally, the rear engine hatch now features integrated lighting for better visibility during refueling or engine checks in low-light conditions.

The loader also introduces keyless entry via a remote door opener, enhancing both convenience and security. For streamlined maintenance, a newly added fuel priming pump near the rear of the machine allows contractors to bleed the fuel system within minutes, reducing downtime and service effort.

Volvo’s L260 wheel loader combines automation, performance, and operator-focused design to meet the modern demands of construction and quarry applications.
