Gothenburg, Sweden- Volvo Defense AB., a division of Volvo Trucks, has entered a framework agreement with the Estonian Centre for Defense Investments and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Latvia for the delivery of logistic trucks. Volvo was chosen as one out of two suppliers that combined will deliver up to 3,000 vehicles over a period of 7 years.

In accordance with a framework agreement, Volvo Defense plans to start deliveries logistic trucks to Estonia and Latvia in 2024. Volvo is one of the two selected providers. The combined need of the two nations is up to 3,000 Vehicles, with a total estimated value of 440 million Euro. The contract has a 7-year term that can be extended by an additional three years as needed.

The contract was signed at a ceremony in Tallinn, Estonia on Wednesday, 4 October, attended by representatives from the Estonian and Swedish governments.

The FMX model from Volvo Trucks serves as the foundation for the five truck combinations that make up the Volvo trucks. The deal also includes a thorough spare parts and maintenance program. The automobiles will be produced at the Volvo Trucks Tuve assembly factory in Gothenburg.

Mr. Andreas Svenungsson, President of Volvo Defense, said that, I am looking forward to working with our Estonian and Latvian customers in tailoring the best products and services for them during the years to come. "This is a significant deal for Volvo Defense and a proof point of the reliability of our products and of Volvo as a long-term business partner."

The new arrangement expands on Volvo Defense's longstanding partnership with the Estonian military, to which the company made its first deliveries in 2014. With solid infrastructure for sales and aftermarket services, Estonia and Latvia are well-established markets for Volvo Trucks.

Mr. Erko Sepri, Strategic Category Manager (Vehicles, Machinery and Logistics) of Estonian Centre for Defense Investments, said that, This agreement is very important to Estonia because it gives us the chance to buy vehicles that are specially made to meet the requirements of our armed forces. Since Volvo vehicles have repeatedly shown over the years of use that they are suitable for the Estonian climate and environment, we are happy to have entered a contract with them.
