Munich, Germany - Volvo Construction Equipment AB., (Volvo CE) a construction equipment manufacturer, has unveiled the battery-electric articulated haulers, the A30 Electric and A40 Electric, at Bauma 2025 in Munich, Germany. These models represent a significant advancement in sustainable construction equipment, offering zero-emission solutions for industries such as quarrying, mining, and construction.

Delivering the same exceptional off-road performance as their diesel counterparts, the two new electric machines combine zero emissions with world-class hauling capabilities across industries such as quarrying, mining, and construction. With payload capacities of 29 tons and 39 tons respectively.

The new haulers deliver enhanced productivity, safety, and fuel efficiency. Both electric and conventional ranges provide forward-thinking, high-performance solutions to support customers at any stage of their sustainability journey.

Mr. Mats Skoldberg, Head of Technology for Volvo CE, said, “Our commitment to innovation continues. These electric haulers mark a major step forward in our ambition to decarbonize construction, combining the same unbeatable performance our customers know and love, with a more sustainable operation. As the world’s first battery powered articulated haulers of their size class, we are proud to continue to evolve our portfolio by bringing our world class electric technology into a brand-new segment.”

Powered by robust lithium-ion batteries, the A30 and A40 Electric haulers offer 4–4.5 hours of runtime in most applications, up to 7 hours in optimal conditions. They’re ideal for tasks like downhill hauling, tunnel work, and quarries where low emissions are crucial. Fast DC charging from 20–80% takes about one hour with a 350-kW charger. When run on renewable energy, they deliver significant lifecycle CO₂ savings: 84% for the A30 Electric and 90% for the A40 Electric compared to diesel models.

The A30 and A40 Electric haulers offer a quieter, low-vibration ride with zero tailpipe emissions, improving both operator comfort and air quality. Features like the Volvo Co-Pilot display, My Equipment app, and Haul Assist boost connectivity, efficiency, and productivity, all within a safer, more user-friendly cab.
