Göteborg, Sweden- Volvo Trucks., has received an order for 264 units of its all-new VNL from Averitt Express, a freight transportation providers in the United States. The deal represents one of the largest single orders for Volvo’s flagship long-haul truck in North America to date.
The new VNL 860s will expand Averitt’s fleet of over 4,600 vehicles, more than half of which already carry the Volvo badge. This investment highlights a growing trend among major carriers to modernize fleets with vehicles that improve fuel efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance driver comfort—key factors in attracting and retaining skilled drivers.
Mr. Peter Voorhoeve, President of Volvo Trucks North America, said, “This order from Averitt Express is a strong vote of confidence in the all-new Volvo VNL and in our long-standing relationship. We are proud that Volvo makes up more than half of Averitt’s fleet, and we remain committed to supporting their drivers with trucks designed to elevate comfort, efficiency, and safety.”
The next-generation Volvo VNL was developed with a focus on fuel economy, achieving up to a 10% improvement over the previous model through advanced aerodynamics and powertrain innovations. Beyond efficiency, the truck introduces hundreds of enhancements to maximize productivity, safety, and profitability, while redefining the driver experience with a modern, ergonomic design built for life on the road.
