Wacker Neuson Launches RTD-SC4 Trench Compactor

Munich, Germany - Wacker Neuson Equipment Private Limited., a construction equipment manufacturer, has unveiled the next-generation RTD-SC4 trench compactor, designed to deliver superior performance across multiple key areas. This latest model features enhanced serviceability, allowing for easier maintenance and reduced downtime.

Efficiency has been significantly improved, optimizing fuel consumption and operational output. Safety advancements provide better operator protection, while upgraded ergonomic features enhance user comfort for extended use. With these innovations, the RTD-SC4 sets a new benchmark in trench compaction technology.

Mr. Gert Reichetseder, President and CEO at Wacker Neuson Americas, said, “The completely redesigned compactor sports a new asymmetrical shape – and for good reason. We tried to reduce the complexity of this product with fewer parts, fewer hoses and better hydraulic performance. Hence, the design is no longer symmetrical. The idea behind that was all about usability and serviceability.”

The RTD-SC4 Powered by a 19.8-horsepower Kohler diesel engine, the RTD-SC4 is built for durability and efficiency. Its newly designed drum transmission requires no maintenance for the first 1,000 hours, reducing downtime and operational costs. Designed for versatility, the drum width can be easily adjusted from 23.6 to 32 inches, allowing operators to tackle various trenching applications with ease. Additionally, all service parts are strategically positioned for quick and hassle-free access, enhancing overall maintenance convenience.

The remote-control unit has been upgraded from infrared to advanced two-way radio technology, enhancing functionality with a user-friendly LED display. Additionally, a new return-to-straight feature automatically corrects the machine’s direction of travel when the lever is released.

The RTD-SC4's safety features ensure it stays within a safe range. It automatically shuts off if it moves too close to the operator or exceeds 98 feet of travel.
