Xuzhou, China - Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd., a construction machinery manufacturer, has introduced the XE215EV, a fully-electric 25-ton excavator that combines fast-charging and battery-swapping capabilities, setting it apart from other electric machinery on display. Designed for high efficiency and sustainability, the XE215EV is powered by a 400-kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, offering 6 to 8 hours of continuous operation depending on the application.
A standout feature of the XE215EV is its dual-gun DC fast charging capability, enabling a full charge in just 1.5 hours. In addition, the machine includes a battery-swapping system, allowing operators to replace battery packs in as little as three minutes, minimizing downtime to nearly the same level as refueling a diesel-powered machine. This fast battery swap is made possible through XCMG's collaboration with BYD on the Blade battery system, which is engineered for extreme conditions, offering protection from temperatures ranging from -40°F to 149°F and altitudes up to 18,000 feet.
The XE215EV is equipped with a high-torque permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 160 horsepower. The electric drive system is touted to reduce operating costs by 60% compared to traditional diesel-powered excavators. Additionally, the excavator features IP67-rated electrical components, ensuring high safety and reliability in demanding environments.
The pressurized cab inside the XE215EV is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen display, integrated controls, and a heated, air-suspension seat for operator comfort. High-definition cameras provide a 360-degree view around the machine for added safety and convenience.
XCMG continues to expand its green product offerings, with an eco-friendly portfolio that spans 1.5- to 70-ton models, including all-electric, hybrid, and electric traction machines. The company is committed to sustainability, with 19% of its product portfolio currently comprising green innovations under its "Green Mountain" energy line. Full electrification across all product series is also underway.
Mr. Yang Dongsheng, Chairman of XCMG Group, said, "XCMG remains committed to advancing engineering technology to empower a sustainable future. Our mission is to deliver efficient, intelligent, and eco-friendly lifecycle solutions for global clients."
