Munich, Germany – Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd., (XCMG) a construction equipment manufacturer, has launched the XE215EV, a 25-ton electric excavator, at Bauma 2025. This 25-ton crawler excavator represents a major step forward in sustainable construction equipment, offering an innovative battery-swapping solution combined with all-day performance.
The XE215EV is a powerful 400 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering up to 8 hours of continuous operation under typical working conditions. This makes the machine well-suited for urban infrastructure projects, mining sites, material handling, and other heavy-duty applications where noise reduction and emissions control are critical.
In addition to traditional fast-charging, which allows the battery to charge from zero to full in just 1.5 to 2 hours using a high-capacity DC charger, the XE215EV stands out with its battery swapping capability—a feature made possible through collaboration with BYD. This technology allows operators to quickly replace depleted batteries on-site, significantly minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
