Greenwich, United States- XPO Logistics Supply Chain Inc., a provider of comprehensive and sustainable logistics solutions across Europe, has successfully introduced hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and electric-powered vehicles in its 4PL and transport control tower operations. This pioneering move marks a significant milestone in sustainability within the industry.
The trials of HVO and electric-powered vehicles initially covered test routes spanning nearly 3,000 miles in the UK and Ireland, resulting in a reduction of over 4,000 kgCO2e in emissions. This expansion of eco-friendly solutions in managed transport aligns with XPO's broader strategy to decarbonize, including a focus on increasing the use of alternative fuels while newer low- and zero-emission vehicles enter the market.
Mr. Paul Hayes, XPO's Director of Asset Light Solutions, emphasized the importance of sustainability as a strategic priority for customers.
