Uttar Pradesh - India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd., a two-wheeler manufacturer, has launched its first electric scooter, the EC-06, in the Indian market. The scooter will initially be available in select cities through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square showrooms. Designed for modern urban commuting, the EC-06 reflects Yamaha’s commitment to sustainable and clean mobility.
The scooter offers a certified range of 169 kilometers on a single charge. It is powered by an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a 4kWh fixed battery, delivering a top speed of 79 km/h and maximum torque of 26 Nm. Riders can select from Eco, Standard, and Power modes, and a reverse mode makes parking easier. A full charge takes about eight hours using a standard home socket.
The EC-06 comes with 200mm disc brakes on both wheels and a Combi Brake System. It features a colour LCD display and supports smartphone connectivity through the Yamaha Motor Connect R app. The motor and battery are IP67 rated, while other electronics have IP65 protection against water and dust. The scooter also provides 24.5 liters of under-seat storage.
Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, said, “The EC-06 is a significant step toward sustainable urban mobility. The scooter has been developed and manufactured in India under the Make in India initiative. Yamaha produces two-wheelers at its plants in Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu for domestic and export markets. The EC-06 is currently available in Bluish White.”
