Chennai, Tamil Nadu – India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM), a two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has announced the launch of the XSR155 motorcycle in a new ‘Metallic Black’ colour option. The company stated that the new variant has been introduced in response to customer demand for a bold black shade, further strengthening the motorcycle’s modern retro appeal in the Indian market.
The Metallic Black variant, paired with golden upside-down (USD) front forks, enhances the motorcycle’s premium and aggressive styling. The darker finish highlights the XSR155’s muscular fuel tank, minimalist bodywork, and signature retro-inspired design elements, giving it a stronger road presence.
Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said, “the strong response to the XSR155 reflects the growing popularity of Yamaha’s Modern Retro Sport philosophy among Indian riders. He added that the introduction of the black variant reinforces Yamaha’s commitment to meeting customer preferences while delivering a blend of individuality, performance, and styling.”
Since its launch last November, the XSR155 has gained popularity among motorcycle enthusiasts looking for retro design combined with sporty performance.
The XSR155 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), producing 13.5 kW of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. Built on Yamaha’s Deltabox frame, the motorcycle features USD front forks, an aluminium swing arm, linked-type monocross rear suspension, and a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. Dual-channel ABS and Traction Control enhance safety and riding confidence.
