Yamaha Unveils 2027 YZF-R9 With New Colours in Japan

Iwata, Shizuoka, Japan- Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., has unveiled the 2027 YZF-R9 ABS, a supersport motorcycle featuring an 888cc three-cylinder engine and lightweight aluminium frame. The updated model will be released in Japan from September 30, 2026.

The 2027 YZF-R9 will be available in two new colours: Black and Matte Dark Blue. The Black version features a simple one-tone metallic finish with a grey model logo for a sophisticated appearance.

The Matte Dark Blue version uses a deep navy finish with vivid vermilion accents on the bodywork, wheels and front fender. Yamaha says the colour design gives the motorcycle a more aggressive and sporty appearance. The existing Blue colour will also continue, bringing the total to three colours.

The YZF-R9 is powered by a water-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, 888cc inline-three-cylinder engine based on Yamaha's Crossplane Concept. The engine is mounted in a lightweight aluminium frame designed to support the motorcycle's sporty performance.

Developed under the concept “Re-DNAed Supersport,” the YZF-R9 uses the power unit from the MT-09. Yamaha positions the motorcycle as a versatile supersport model designed to deliver strong track performance while remaining accessible for riders with different levels of experience.
