Indaiatuba, Brazil – Yanmar., an agricultural equipment manufacturer, has started construction of a new tractor manufacturing facility in Indaiatuba, Sao Paulo, with an investment of R$280 million (USD 50 million).
The new 140,000 sq m facility will be around three times larger than Yanmar’s existing local factories and is being developed in phases through 2030. The first phase, covering about 36,000 sq m, is expected to begin operations in 2027.
Once operational, the plant will increase Yanmar’s annual tractor production capacity in Brazil from around 5,000 units to 7,000 units. The project is also expected to create approximately 100 direct and indirect jobs by 2029.
The facility will feature automated assembly lines, improved internal logistics, enhanced safety and ergonomic systems, and sustainable technologies including photovoltaic power, natural lighting and automated lighting controls.
Yanmar plans to consolidate manufacturing, administration, commercial operations and executive functions at the new site. The facility will also adopt the Yanmar Production System, incorporating manufacturing practices developed through the company’s operations in Japan.
The development will be completed in three stages. Tractor, engine and generator manufacturing is scheduled to begin transferring to the new facility in 2027. Production capacity and spare-parts distribution operations will be expanded in 2029, followed by completion of the integrated manufacturing campus, including offices and training facilities, in 2030.
Yanmar has operated in Brazil for more than 65 years and currently employs more than 300 people at its Indaiatuba operations.
