Tokyo, Japan- Zeon Corporation., has announced the development and commercial launch of Nipol BR1300, a next-generation hydrophilic styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) designed specifically for winter tire applications. Developed with a polybutadiene rubber base, the new material delivers unprecedented hydrophilicity, improving tire performance in cold and wet conditions.

Commercial production of Nipol BR1300 began in May 2025 at Zeon’s Tokuyama Plant in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The innovation is part of Zeon’s strategy to offer advanced, value-added rubber materials tailored to evolving automotive needs.

In line with its portfolio optimization strategy, Zeon plans to phase out low-profitability products such as ESBR-1 and NBR latex by 2026. However, the company will continue producing high-margin rubber solutions including ESBR-2, nitrile butadiene rubber, and solution SBR.

Through continuous technological advancement and strategic collaboration, Zeon aims to deliver new value to the rubber industry while strengthening its position as a leader in innovative polymer solutions.
