As modern vehicles become more reliant on advanced electronics, the United Nations has implemented Regulation R156, requiring OEMs to establish a Software Update Management System (SUMS) to ensure long-term safety and cybersecurity. Comprehensive SUMS Support: ZF’s Five-Part Service Suite
ZF’s modular SUMS Service Suite helps trailer OEMs manage and document software updates in full compliance with UN/ECE Regulation R156.At its core is the ISO 24089-certified SCALAR SUMS SaaS platform, which tracks and verifies software and hardware versions, supports cybersecurity compliance, and simplifies audits and certification renewals.
The suite also includes expert consulting, a practical certification toolkit (handbook, templates, checklists), targeted training for OEMs and suppliers, and a portfolio of SUMS-ready technologies like TEBS-E7, iEBS, OptiTire TPMS, and the SmartBoard control panel—offering a complete solution for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
