ZF Opens New E-mobility Plant in China

ZF’s advanced technology and innovative concepts, Shenyang new e-mobility plant will produce and sell advanced products such as electric axle drives for new energy vehicles.

Shenyang, China- ZF opened a new e-mobility plant recently, known as ZF Electric Mobility Systems (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. As ZF’s third e-mobility plant in China, Shenyang plant gathers ZF’s advanced technology and innovative concepts, and will produce and sell advanced products such as electric axle drives for new energy vehicles, to provide more high-quality and high-efficiency e-mobility solutions for customers in China and the world.

The Shenyang plant primarily produces electric axle drives for new energy vehicles, using ZF's modular kit electric drive platform. These drives cover both front and rear axles, including motors, power electronics, and reducers. With power outputs ranging from 100kW to 300kW, the modular design allows flexibility between synchronous and asynchronous motors. Key features include hairpin winding for higher power density, ZF’s High 2.0 SiC power electronics on an 800-volt platform, and an optimized reducer for enhanced efficiency and NVH performance.

The Shenyang plant's opening accelerates ZF's E-mobility strategy, supporting the green transformation of the automotive industry. It will provide high-quality e-mobility solutions to customers globally. Currently, production line transfers are underway, with a focus on refining the electric drive system assembly and inspection line to ensure volume production in 2025. ZF now operates three e-mobility plants in China, including the newly opened ZF Electric Mobility Systems (Shenyang), following the launch of the ZF Electrified Powertrain Technologies (Hangzhou) plant in 2022. This marks a significant milestone in ZF’s electrification efforts.
