Friedrichshafen, Germany- ZF Friedrichshafen AG., is advancing commercial vehicle technologies by integrating its intelligent software solutions with chassis systems to enhance performance and safety. As automotive tech moves towards digital integration, ZF in smart, connected solutions, leveraging its expertise across vehicle segments to deliver intelligent systems efficiently and cost-effectively, ultimately reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO).

ZF’s Braking and e-Drive Synergy Program enhances electric vehicle efficiency by harnessing deceleration energy to recharge batteries, extending range and reducing battery size. By integrating ZF’s AxTrax 2 and CeTrax 2 e-drives with the mBSP XBS braking system, the program optimizes energy recuperation, offers one-pedal driving for increased comfort, and improves launch capabilities and traction control. This results in greater efficiency, safety, and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO).

ZF’s new software solution replaces bulky brake resistors in battery electric vehicles by managing battery energy during regenerative braking. It uses location data to predict steep descents and optimally stores extra energy, ensuring full battery charge while avoiding excess energy buildup. This innovation reduces weight by around 150 kg, saves space, and maximizes energy efficiency, showcasing how cloud-based functions can enhance cost, weight savings, and sustainability.
