Chennai- Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV).,  is a subsidiary of the German Daimler Truck AG., a manufactures, and sells commercial vehicles has launched its most advanced range of construction and mining trucks under the BharatBenz brand. The all-new HX Series and Torqshift Series were developed after extensive testing and are now available through BharatBenz’s wide network of 385 dealerships across India. These trucks are designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance, reliable, and efficient vehicles in India’s booming infrastructure and mining sectors.

India’s construction and mining equipment industry is projected to grow from $16 billion to $45 billion by 2030. The country is also expected to become the world’s third-largest construction market by 2025. BharatBenz’s new trucks are a timely response to this growth, offering a modern, powerful fleet that meets the evolving needs of contractors and fleet operators.

The HX Series has been developed specifically for construction use and includes two models—2828C HX and 3532C HX. These trucks offer power outputs of 280 hp with 1100 Nm torque and 320 hp with 1250 Nm torque, respectively. Designed for demanding terrains, the HX trucks provide gradeability of up to 60% and 54%, making them ideal for hilly and rugged sites. Key features include Hill Hold Assist, unitized front axle bearings, wind deflectors, and driver state monitoring systems. The cabins comply with EU ECE R29-03 crash test standards, ensuring enhanced safety.

The Torqshift Series targets mining applications and consists of the 2832CM and 3532CM models. These trucks come with a globally proven Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) system sourced from Mercedes-Benz. The AMT offers zero-lag gear shifts, reduced driver fatigue, faster turnaround times, and improved fuel efficiency. Localization of this technology is planned once demand reaches scale.

In addition, BharatBenz introduced the 2828C RMC model for the ready-mix concrete segment. Equipped with a 9-cubic meter drum and powered by the same 280 hp engine with 1100 Nm torque, this truck is built for reliable operation in tough construction environments while ensuring efficient concrete delivery.

Before full-scale rollout, over 150 trucks from the new range were rigorously tested at construction and mining sites across India. These real-world trials confirmed the trucks’ superior uptime, fuel efficiency, and reliability key metrics for fleet owners seeking long-term returns. The trials also aligned with changing market trends, as more contractors now prefer owning trucks over renting them to gain greater control and profitability.

According to DICV CTO Pradeep Kumar Thimmaiyan, customer feedback played a central role in the design process. Fleet operators asked for higher payloads, quicker turnarounds, lower maintenance, and enhanced safety. The result is a product range that directly addresses these challenges, with factory-fitted GPS, reverse cameras, hill-start assist, and differential locks now offered as standard features.

Supporting the new range is BharatBenz’s robust service and maintenance ecosystem. The company offers 15,000-hour annual maintenance contracts and operates an advanced Uptime Center equipped with real-time monitoring and predictive diagnostics. This ensures proactive servicing and minimizes unplanned breakdowns, allowing fleet operators to stay on schedule and reduce downtime.

Technically, the trucks feature several enhancements that boost performance and reduce ownership costs. These include a unitized bearing system at the front axle, differential locks for improved traction, bolster bogie suspension with shock absorbers for stability under load, and improved ground clearance and approach angles for off-road capability. The trucks also benefit from optimized aerodynamics thanks to integrated wind deflectors.

As India rolls out ambitious infrastructure initiatives such as a 200,000 km national highway development plan supported by $350 billion in investment the need for durable and efficient transport equipment is rising fast. The mining sector is also experiencing significant growth, with underground equipment expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.68%, from $7.4 billion in 2023 to $13.5 billion by 2032.

BharatBenz is aligning its truck offerings with these growth opportunities. With a strong focus on operator comfort, efficiency, and safety, the new HX and Torqshift series are well-positioned to meet the rising demand for dependable vehicles in the infrastructure and mining space.

Mr. Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and CBO at DICV, said, “Today’s fleet operators prioritize uptime, fast service, and safety-enhancing technology. BharatBenz’s latest range addresses these needs, providing a value-driven solution for both large and mid-sized operators. The comprehensive support, along with a strong dealer network, further ensures peace of mind for customers”.

With the launch of the HX and Torqshift series, BharatBenz reaffirms its commitment to powering India’s infrastructure transformation. These next-generation trucks are built to handle the nation’s toughest jobs—delivering performance, durability, and reliability that fleet operators can depend on.
