Bavaria, Germany- Bayerische Motoren Werke AG., has unveiled the first series-produced Neue Klasse model – the all-new, fully electric BMW iX3. This next-generation Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) marks the beginning of a new era of Sheer Driving Pleasure, combining a fresh design language, advanced technology, and sustainability at its core. With sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, the iX3 delivers a range of up to 805 km (500 miles WLTP), ultra-fast charging at up to 400 kW, and intelligent software powered by four high-performance “superbrains.” The new “Heart of Joy” drivetrain management ensures precise handling and responsiveness, while the latest driver assistance systems bring a new level of human-vehicle interaction.
BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X. It blends digital displays, intuitive controls, AI-powered assistance, and immersive entertainment into a seamless driving experience. The system includes a full-width head-up display, upgraded BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and in-car features such as video streaming, music, and gaming. Inside, the uncluttered, modern cabin offers spacious comfort, premium finishes, and sustainable materials, while exterior design highlights include bold proportions, aerodynamic refinement (Cd 0.24), and a timeless BMW silhouette.
The first model to roll out will be the BMW iX3 50 xDrive, offering 345 kW (469 hp), dual-motor all-wheel drive, 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, and a usable battery capacity of 108.7 kWh. Charging from 10–80% takes just 21 minutes, and bidirectional charging (V2L, V2H, V2G) allows the car to act as a power source. Practicality is enhanced with up to 1,750 litres of cargo space and a 2,000 kg towing capacity.
Production will begin in Debrecen, Hungary, from autumn 2025, with market launch in Europe in spring 2026 and the USA in summer 2026. A China-specific version, built in Shenyang, will also be available from mid-2026.
Sustainability plays a central role in the Neue Klasse. The new iX3 achieves a 34% lower life-cycle carbon footprint compared to its predecessor, with extensive use of recycled and secondary materials, circular design principles, and fossil-free manufacturing. Around one-third of the vehicle uses secondary raw materials, including recycled marine plastics, PET-based textiles, and high percentages of recycled aluminium.
Mr. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of BMW AG, said, “The Neue Klasse is our biggest future project and marks a huge leap in terms of technologies, driving experience and design. What started as a bold vision has now become reality: the BMW iX3 is the first Neue Klasse model to go into series production, launching a new era for BMW.”
By 2027, BMW will integrate Neue Klasse innovations into 40 new models and updates, shaping the future of the brand across electrification, software, and circular sustainability. The iX3 is the first step into this bold new era.
