Manila, Philippines- Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI) is the official distributor of BYD cars in the Philippines, has launched the Tang DM-i, a seven-seater plug-in hybrid SUV. Bringing BYD’s Super DM-i technology to the Philippines, the model strengthens the brand’s expansion in Southeast Asia with a focus on efficient, long-range PHEV systems.

Mr. Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines, said, “With the introduction of the all-new BYD Tang DM-i, we are expanding our Super DM-i lineup to address the diverse needs of Filipino families.” The Tang DM-i utilizes a turbocharged internal combustion engine that mainly serves as an onboard generator, paired with an electric motor and a 21.5 kWh Blade battery. This setup produces 271 PS and 315 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds. It offers up to 110 kilometers of pure electric range and a total driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers in hybrid mode, combining performance with long-distance capability.

Charging options are designed for convenience and flexibility. The Blade battery supports DC fast charging, replenishing from 30 to 80 percent in just 22 minutes, while standard AC charging achieves a full charge from 15 to 100 percent in approximately three hours. Adding to its practicality, the vehicle also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows it to power external devices and appliances when needed.

Inside, the seven-seater SUV emphasizes both comfort and innovation. It is equipped with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a premium 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system that enhances the in-cabin experience. Safety is managed by the BYD DiPilot suite of advanced driver assistance systems, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera. Together, these features position the Tang DM-i within the Level 2 assisted driving category, offering Filipino families a blend of technology, safety, and efficiency in a single electrified package.
