      IRVING, TEXAS - Caterpillar Inc., a construction equipment manufacturer, has expanded its fast-response natural-gas generator lineup with the introduction of a new 3.1 MW power node for the Cat G3520 Fast Response generator set - its highest-capacity single-unit offering to date for standby, grid-connected, and microgrid applications.

      Designed for mission-critical environments, the new G3520 Fast Response generator delivers diesel-like start-up performance with the efficiency of natural gas. Built on the proven Cat 3500 platform, it can start and accept load in under 10 seconds to meet NFPA 110 standards—ideal for hospitals, data centers, emergency centers, and other facilities needing uninterrupted power. It is offered in both 50 Hz and 60 Hz configurations.

      The power node also enhances energy resilience while creating revenue opportunities through demand and emergency response programs. When integrated with Caterpillar’s DERMS platform, Cat AMP, customers can automate enrollment and real-time dispatch to maximize financial benefits.

      Ms. Melissa Busen, senior vice president for Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division, said, “Our fast-response natural-gas generator sets deliver unique performance, comparable to the start-up and load acceptance of diesel-fueled power solutions. This new 3.1 MW power node supports our customers’ energy resilience in critical power applications.”

      With this launch, Caterpillar now offers seven EPA-certified 60 Hz standby power nodes ranging from 500 kW to 3.1 MW for emergency and non-emergency use, along with 2.5 MW and 3.1 MW models for 50 Hz deployments.

      The expanded lineup underscores Caterpillar’s commitment to flexible, high-performance gas-fueled power systems that enhance reliability while creating new pathways for operational savings and revenue generation.
