Irving, Texas - Caterpillar Inc., a construction and mining equipment manufacturer, has rolled out multiple enhancements across its Cat mini hydraulic excavator (MHE) lineup, including the 303.5 CR, 305 CR, 308 CR, 309 CR, and 310 models, aimed at boosting speed, efficiency, and ease of use.
The compact radius Cat 305 CR now joins the 6- to 10-tonne class, offering factory-installed Ease-of-Use (EOU), E-Fence, and Indicate features for software-enabled attachment versions. Customers can order the 305 CR ready with a cab or premium canopy or have it pre-installed at the factory.
The next-generation Cat 303.5 CR features a major software update that improves transient speeds by up to 25% compared to earlier models. The upgrade allows faster repositioning, reducing idle time and increasing job site productivity by up to 35%, depending on conditions. The software update is compatible with all 303.5 CR models built since 2021 and is accessible via Cat dealers.
The 303.5 CR offers heavy lifting, Stick Steer joystick controls, a sealed pressurized cab, and easy service access with ground-level checkpoints and a tilt-up cab. Its compact radius swing improves performance in tight spaces.
Safety is enhanced with E-Fence limits for ceiling, floor, walls, and swing. The 305 CR Indicate provides bucket position feedback, and the Laser Catcher aids large job sites.
The 308 CR, 309 CR, and 310 now use the Cat C2.8 engine, meeting Tier 4 Final/Stage V standards with a maintenance-free DOC and DPF. Additional upgrades include a third auxiliary hydraulic option, standard rearview cameras, optional side-view cameras, and an angle blade on the 308 CR for dozer-like operation.
These updates build on four industry-first features introduced in the next-generation Cat mini excavator line: Stick Steer, cruise control, operator-adjustable settings, and touchscreen-based machine monitoring, reinforcing Caterpillar’s focus on productivity, safety, and operator comfort.
