Chery Malaysia Launches All-New Chery O5

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Chery Malaysia., a Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., is a Chinese automobile manufacturer has officially launched the all-new Chery O5, a stylish crossover SUV designed to meet the needs of a new generation of drivers. With advanced technology, dynamic performance, and bold design, the Chery O5 sets a new benchmark in its segment with several first-in-class features.

The model already enjoys strong popularity in Malaysia. Known previously as the OMODA 5, more than 13,000 units have been delivered locally since 2023. Now rebranded as the Chery O5, the model is sold in 38 countries worldwide, including Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Italy, Poland, and Mexico. From January to August this year alone, global sales reached 44,769 units.

The Chery O5 is powered by a 1.5T engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm of torque, now paired with a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (6DCT) for smoother shifts and greater torque capacity. It is also the only model in its class to feature a Multi-Link Independent Rear Suspension, delivering improved comfort, handling stability, and cornering performance. Drivers can also choose from three driving modes — Eco, Normal, and Sport.

In terms of design, the O5 debuts Chery’s Pixel Diamond Front Grille and X-shaped front bumper, with striking arrow-shaped LED DRLs with sequential turn signals. Bold 18-inch black alloy wheels and a new aerodynamic spoiler further highlight its sporty, modern character.

Inside, the SUV introduces a 20.5-inch integrated dual screen, an upgraded frameless rear-view mirror, and dual temperature vanity mirrors. Comfort features include front ventilated powered seats, wireless charging, a cooled armrest storage box, and a premium SONY 8-speaker audio system. Other highlights include 64-color ambient lighting, a power sunroof, and seamless wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Safety remains a key focus, with the O5 offering a 78% high-strength steel body, 6 airbags, ISOFIX anchors, and Level 2 ADAS with 18 advanced functions such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Traffic Jam Assist. The model maintains its 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Measuring 4400 mm in length with a 2630 mm wheelbase, the Chery O5 balances style with practicality, offering a spacious cabin and 442L boot capacity.

The SUV is available in Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Blood Stone Red. Buyers benefit from a 7-year/150,000 km warranty, 5 years of free service (labour only), and 24/7 unlimited roadside assistance.
