Mumbai- Citroën India has unveiled the Basalt X Range alongside CARA, a new intelligent, multilingual in-car companion, as part of its “Citroën 2.0 – Shift Into the New” roadmap. Engineered in India for Indian customers—and destined for global rollout—the duo embodies Stellantis’ vision of mobility that’s more connected, more human, and more aspirational.

Billed as India’s first context-aware, multilingual in-car companion, CARA is designed from the ground up to integrate tightly with Citroën vehicles. It understands natural, even fuzzy commands (e.g., “I’m tired,” prompting rest-stop suggestions), reads vehicle data to offer human-friendly insights (tyre pressure, fuel) and remote controls (AC pre-conditioning, door locks), and keeps drivers connected with music, calls, reminders, smartwatch alerts, and navigation. It can surface real-time updates on flights, stocks, cricket, or weather, supports voice-triggered SOS and crash response, and converses in 52 Indian and global languages, switching on the fly. By introducing CARA first in India, Stellantis underscores the country’s growing role in its global software and innovation strategy.

Basalt X adds a premium cabin (soft-touch leatherette, gold accents, 26 cm bezel-less infotainment, 17.7 cm cluster), ventilated seats and tropicalized AC, Proxi-Sense™ PEPS, Halo-Cam 360°, full LED lighting and Advanced Comfort suspension—plus a roomy second row with Brown Marse theme, smart tilt cushion and winged headrests, and standard safety kit (6 airbags, ESP, Hill-Hold, TPMS, ABS-EBD, perimetric alarm).

Stellantis India CEO & MD Mr. Shailesh Hazela said the launch anchors Citroën’s 2.0 strategy in India, introducing CARA—conceived, engineered, and launched locally—while the Basalt X strengthens the portfolio with exclusivity and comfort. Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director – Automotive Brands, added that Basalt X blends smart tech with signature Citroën comfort for evolving Indian tastes, backed by a growing network and pricing that keeps aspiration accessible, with the Basalt range.

The Basalt pairs an SUV’s stance with a coupé’s silhouette. Highlights include a Piano Black signature grille with dual chevrons, diamond-cut R16 alloys, a full front LED lighting package (LED Vision projectors, projector fogs, DRLs) and 3D-effect tail lamps. With 180 mm ground clearance and generous approach/departure angles, it’s ready for rougher roads without losing its elegance.

Inside, class-leading cabin space meets Advanced Comfort® suspension for that “flying carpet” feel. The tropicalized Auto AC (with rear vents) and segment-first Smart Tilt Cushion with adjustable thigh support reinforce long-journey comfort. Tech essentials include a 26 cm Citroën Connect infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 17.7 cm driver display, wireless charging, and My Citroën Connect 2.0 with 40+ connected features (remote start, AC pre-conditioning, geo-fencing, and more).

Safety remains central: an advanced body structure with 85% high-grade steel, six airbags, ESP, Hill-Hold, TPMS, ISOFIX, and a perimetric alarm are standard, alongside 40+ active and passive features.

The Basalt range is powered by Citroën’s globally proven PureTech engines: the 1.2L Gen-3 Turbo (110 PS, 205 Nm) and PureTech 82 NA, paired with 5MT, 6MT, or 6AT transmissions for an efficient, responsive drive. Experiences and test drives for the Basalt X with CARA begin mid-September at Citroën dealerships, with deliveries slated for the Festive Season.

With CARA and the Basalt X Range, Citroën signals its next phase in India—elevating design, intelligence, comfort, and value while keeping the brand accessible to a wider set of buyers.
