Jakarta, Indonesia- Geely Auto., has launched the Geely EX2 in Indonesia and confirmed the start of local production, a major step in its localization strategy. With demand rising for smart, sustainable urban mobility, the EX2 debut signals Geely’s move beyond initial product introductions toward deeper market localization pairing its global technology standards with local manufacturing capability.
Indonesia is a strategically important overseas market for Geely, serving as a key right-hand-drive hub and a gateway to Southeast Asia. As the third model in Geely’s local production line-up following the Geely Starray EM-i and Geely EX5 the EX2 reinforces the brand’s focus on strengthening the local EV ecosystem and its long-term commitment to the region.
Positioned for urban families and young professionals, the Geely EX2 is presented as a “Smart Space Urban Car,” combining expressive styling, intelligent features, and a responsive driving feel. The vehicle has received chassis tuning tailored to local road conditions and driving habits to improve comfort on uneven streets and stability in city traffic. Its blind-spot detection is optimized for heavy motorcycle flow, while a 540° transparent chassis view highlighted as unique in its class aims to help drivers handle tight, complex urban roads more confidently.
Under its localization plan, Geely Auto has begun local assembly of the EX2 in Indonesia with 46.5% local content. The company says the program supports technology transfer, workforce development, and domestic supply-chain growth, while maintaining global quality and safety requirements. Assembly quality is managed through the Geely Manufacturing Enterprise System (GMES) to ensure consistency across each stage of production.
