Hangzhou, China- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited., has officially unveiled the Galaxy A7 EM-i, its first plug-in hybrid sedan built on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) platform. Positioned between the Galaxy L6 and the Starshine 8 in Geely’s Galaxy lineup, the A7 EM-i also marks the debut of the new “Geely EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0” system an upgrade from the previous Leishen or NordThor Hybrid 2.0 systems.
The Galaxy A7 EM-i is powered by a dedicated hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.5-litre BHE15-BFN engine and a P3 electric motor producing 175 kW. This setup delivers a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.1 seconds, a top speed of 190 km/h, and an impressive thermal efficiency of 47.26%—among the highest in its class. Under CLTC conditions, the vehicle achieves fuel consumption of just 2.67 L/100 km in charge-depleted mode, making it an exceptionally efficient plug-in hybrid.
Buyers can choose from three lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options—8.5 kWh, 18.4 kWh, and 18.99 kWh—which support all-electric ranges of 55 km, 70 km, 120 km, or 150 km depending on the configuration. The EM-i platform incorporates intelligent energy management algorithms that optimize power distribution in real-time and help extend battery life. The vehicle offers a combined CLTC driving range exceeding 2,100 kilometers, making it ideal for long-distance travel with minimal refueling.
Design-wise, the Galaxy A7 EM-i follows Geely’s “Galaxy Ripple” design language. It features a fully enclosed grille, a full-width 196-LED light strip, and a sculpted bumper with trapezoidal air inlets and silver chrome accents. The sleek profile is accentuated by a double waistline, while the rear end adopts a minimalist aesthetic with a light bar and integrated Geely branding. The A7 is available in six exterior colors, with official photos highlighting a clean white variant.
With dimensions of 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,845 mm, the A7 EM-i offers a roomier cabin than competitors like the BYD Qin L. It rides on 19-inch Continental tyres (235/45 R19) and comes equipped with multiple exterior cameras that support a wide range of driver-assistance features.
Inside, the cabin draws inspiration from the larger Starshine 8. A 15.4-inch floating touchscreen runs the Flyme Auto system, supported by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 16.6-inch head-up display. The system includes support for Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, ICCOA, and Flyme Link, and offers OTA updates, AI-based scene recognition, and adaptive energy management. A rotary controller provides added tactile feedback for key functions.
Other interior highlights include a column-mounted gear selector, wireless charging pad, hidden storage compartments, and physical buttons for media and climate control. The vehicle features a premium 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, and 256-color ambient lighting. The rear seat has a 4/6 split-folding design, expanding cargo space from 535 to 988 liters.
Passenger comfort is further elevated with ventilated and heated front seats equipped with headrest speakers and eight massage modes. The rear seats provide a generous 550 mm cushion width and 120-degree reclining capability, delivering a lounge-like experience for backseat passengers.
With its advanced hybrid system, long electric range, high-end technology suite, and focus on occupant comfort, the Geely Galaxy A7 EM-i sets a new benchmark in the plug-in hybrid sedan segment.
