John Deere Launches Smart Tech at Bauma 2025

With the introduction of SmartDetect, SmartDetect Digital, SmartWeigh, and the new 744 X-Tier Wheel Loader with E-Drive, the company continues to deliver on its commitment to customer success and innovation in construction equipment.

SmartDetect offers real-time visual and audible alerts to operators when people or objects are detected around the machine, enhancing situational awareness. It also provides an audible alarm to alert bystanders of machine movement. SmartDetect is currently available as an option on the 444–904 P-Tier and X-Tier Wheel Loaders in the U.S. and Canada.

SmartDetect Digital builds on the original system by integrating with John Deere Operations Center. The platform delivers real-time push notifications, weekly usage reports, and detailed event summaries. Heat maps and trend data help contractors optimize site layouts and improve safety management.

SmartWeigh is expanding into Europe. The John Deere-designed payload weighing system offers high-precision measurements, dynamic weighing, and simple calibration for mid-size and large wheel loaders, streamlining material handling and boosting operational accuracy.

744 X-Tier Wheel Loader with its exclusive E-Drive Electric Variable Transmission (EVT) system. Featuring a JD9 diesel engine as its primary power source, the E-Drive system replaces the traditional torque converter and transmission, delivering fuel savings, improved responsiveness, and simplified operation. The 744 X-Tier is now available in select European markets and North America.
