Frankfurt am Main, Germany- Kia Corporation., has introduced the all-new EV5, an electric SUV designed specifically for the European C-segment SUV market. Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with 400V technology, the EV5 offers a mix of bold styling, advanced technology, and everyday practicality. It’s designed to fit the lifestyle needs of European drivers who want both performance and comfort.

The EV5 is an important part of Kia’s ‘Plan S’ electrification strategy. This global plan focuses on building a strong range of electric vehicles and promoting sustainable mobility. According to Sjoerd Knipping, COO of Kia Europe, the EV5 is a major step in Kia’s European expansion, offering practical features and smart design tailored to local needs.

With its ‘Opposites United’ design theme, the EV5 features a boxy and muscular shape, a bold D-pillar, and Kia’s signature Star Map LED lighting in the front and rear. Customers can choose from different wheel sizes, including 18-, 19-, and 20-inch options, depending on the model variant.

Inside, the EV5 provides a spacious and flexible cabin. The rear seats fold flat, creating up to two metres of loading space, perfect for long items or weekend trips. Practical elements like a drawer-style centre console and smart storage solutions make the interior ideal for both city driving and outdoor adventures. Eco-friendly materials, including recycled PET fabrics and bio-foam, reflect Kia’s focus on sustainability.

The EV5 is powered by a large 81.4 kWh battery, offering an estimated 530 km of range (WLTP). It supports fast charging, allowing 10–80% top-ups in about 30 minutes. The SUV features i-Pedal 3.0 for one-pedal driving and Smart Regeneration Plus, which adjusts braking based on road conditions to improve efficiency.

A special battery heating and cooling system ensures that the EV5 performs well in Europe’s varying climates from cold northern winters to hot southern summers. It also offers bi-directional charging through Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing users to power small devices. The vehicle is also ready for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), once local infrastructure allows.

The EV5 is equipped with Kia’s latest ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit). This includes a wide display that combines a 12.3-inch driver cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a 5.3-inch climate control display. It supports Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, three-zone climate control, and online navigation that uses live data.

High-end features like Digital Key 2.0, fingerprint recognition, and Harman Kardon premium audio enhance the driving experience and match European expectations for smart, easy-to-use technology.

Safety is a major focus of the EV5. The vehicle comes with seven airbags, a strong body frame, and Kia’s latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It includes features like Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Smart Cruise Control 2, and Parking Collision Avoidance Assist for the front, rear, and sides.

For highway driving, Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) helps maintain lane position, manage speed, and safely change lanes. Remote Smart Parking Assist 2.0 lets drivers park the car remotely using a key or smartphone — a convenient feature for tight parking spots.

With its strong SUV design, smart technology, flexible interior, and reliable battery performance, the Kia EV5 is a perfect fit for the modern European driver. It reflects Kia’s commitment to electric mobility and marks a bold step toward a more sustainable driving future.
