Munich, Germany- Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation, has launched the all-new IS, making its world premiere ahead of sales beginning in key markets from early 2026. First introduced in 1999, the IS has long embodied driving enjoyment in the compact FR sports sedan segment. With over 1.3 million units sold across 40 countries and regions, it stands as a core model that showcases the Lexus Driving Signature, blending dynamic performance, bold design, and refined control.
The latest IS introduces two variants IS 300h and IS 350 developed under the theme “Refinement in performance and design.” Extensive testing, including at the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama, focused on further polishing steering feel, stability, and overall driving comfort. The updated Electric Power Steering (EPS) with variable gear ratio reduces steering effort in tight spaces and improves precision through successive corners. A new linear-solenoid Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) balances handling stability with reduced road harshness, enhancing ride quality.
The IS exterior features a redesigned front fascia, highlighting its low center of gravity and wide stance for a more commanding presence. The F SPORT grade adds sportier elements including a newly developed rear spoiler, 19-inch lightweight aluminium wheels, and optional red brake calipers with Lexus branding. The color palette now offers eight body shades, including the newly introduced Neutrino Gray, a tone that combines a light gray base with metallic highlights to accentuate movement.
Inside, the IS emphasizes driver engagement with a cabin that blends functionality and craftsmanship. The 12.3-inch touchscreen center display and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster improve visibility and usability. New “Forged Bamboo” trim adds a unique texture to the upper console and start switch bezel, while a new interior color, Prominence, inspired by the vivid glow of solar flares, gives the cockpit a sporty and aggressive character.
Safety and driver assistance have also been upgraded. The latest Lexus Safety System + now offers expanded preventive safety functions, while the introduction of Lexus Teammate Advanced Drive enables hands-off assistance in highway traffic congestion, making long-distance travel more relaxed.
Chief Engineer Mr. Yasushi Muto explained the development focus, “Our unwavering goal was achieving true dialogue between car and driver. By refining every detail — from ride comfort to safety technologies and interior design — we’ve evolved the IS into an even more engaging and responsive sports sedan.”
