Munich, Germany- MAN Truck & Bus SE., automotive manufacturer and the subsidiary of Traton, has signed an agreement to supply 400 units of MAN Lion’s City buses to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), strengthening its footprint in the Middle East and reaffirming its role in shaping world-class public transportation. The contract was signed at the UITP Summit in Hamburg, marking a major milestone in the collaboration between MAN Truck & Bus, local partner United Motors & Heavy Equipment Co. LLC, and RTA Dubai.

Slated for delivery from October 2025 and to enter service in January 2026, the 12-metre MAN Lion’s City buses will be powered by fuel-efficient 330 hp 9-litre D1556 diesel engines, meeting Euro 6 emissions standards. Designed to offer a high standard of comfort, safety, and environmental performance, each bus will feature 35 seats and be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Lane Departure Warning, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Turn Assist, and Collision Warning. The vehicles will be fully compliant with international safety and accessibility standards, including Class 1 and 2 approval, ECE R66/02, ECE R118, ECE R107, and ECE R36.

“This further major order in the Middle East and the long-standing partnership with RTA impressively demonstrate that our vehicles are extremely well received internationally and impress transport companies from all over the world,” said Barbaros Oktay, Head of Bus at MAN Truck & Bus. Also present at the signing were Thomas Hemmerich, Head of Sales Area International, and Robert Katzer, Head of Sales & Product Bus.

From the RTA, the agreement was witnessed by Matar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, along with Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency; Marwan Al Zarooni, Director of the Buses Department; and Khalid Al Awadi, Director of Transportation Systems. United Motors was represented by Chief Operating Officer Afaf Kontar and Managing Director Khalifa Saif Darwish.

Mr. Thomas Hemmerich, Head of Sales Area International, said, “This significant milestone about the cooperation between MAN, United Motors and RTA shows that MAN keeps on producing the right products for the Middle East region for more than 15 years."

The partnership between RTA and United Motors began in 2008 and has since played a pivotal role in transforming Dubai’s public transport system. It started with a fleet of NEOPLAN buses 150 articulated, 75 solo, and 170 double-decker units followed by the delivery of 79 MAN double-deckers in 2017. Today, approximately 200 MAN and NEOPLAN buses continue to serve the city, with some units logging nearly two million kilometers a testament to vehicle durability and excellent maintenance support.

United Motors has been repeatedly recognized by RTA as the top public bus solution provider over the past two years, reinforcing its reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction.

Together, MAN, United Motors, and RTA remain committed to creating a safe, efficient, and sustainable transport network in Dubai one that meets the city’s ambitious mobility goals and sets global benchmarks in urban transportation.
