Linkoping, Sweden – Ivarssons i Metsjo AB., a trailer manufacturer, has introduced EU type approval for its tractor-drawn trailers and hooklift trailers, including the MetaQ, MetaFlex and MetaK series.
The Category R approval covers both 40 km/h and 60 km/h versions, allowing customers to operate at higher transport speeds while meeting regulatory requirements across European markets. Metsjo said the approval will simplify registration and support cross-border use within the EU.
The company said 60 km/h approval remains uncommon in this segment, positioning Metsjo among a limited group of manufacturers offering high-speed agricultural transport solutions.
EU type approval is available as an optional feature, enabling trailers to be configured according to local regulations and customer requirements. Approved trailers include ABS brakes, load-sensing air brakes, an Intelligent Trailer Safety system with Roll Stability Support, and side marker lights with integrated indicators.
Metsjo’s range includes 2-, 3- and 4-axle trailers with tyre options from 455/40 22.5 to 710/50R 30.5 and 800/45R 30.5. EU-approved configurations are available for maximum laden masses of up to 44 tonnes and transport volumes of up to 60 cubic metres, depending on local rules.
The company said its low tare weight helps improve payload capacity. A 4-axle hooklift trailer weighs about 6 tonnes, allowing payloads of up to 38 tonnes within legal limits.
According to Metsjo, independent studies have shown up to 25 percent lower fuel consumption and around 50 percent lower ground pressure compared with conventional trailers, supported by optimized weight distribution, laser-aligned axles, large tyres and low tare weight.
Mr. Anders Ivarsson, CEO of Metsjo, said, “Introducing EU type approval for both 40 and 60 km/h is an important step in supporting more efficient transport across Europe. Our focus is to provide well-engineered solutions that deliver performance, safety and reliability in real working conditions.”
Metsjo trailers are engineered and manufactured in Sweden at the company’s production facility in Metsjo, Linköping. The company said it will continue expanding across European markets through established partners while meeting regulatory and operational requirements.
