Tokyo, Japan- Mitsubishi Motors Corporation., has announced that China Motor Corporation (CMC), its long-standing production and sales partner in Taiwan, is set to begin sales of the Xforce compact SUV in January. Built at CMC’s Yangmei Plant, the launch is significant as it marks Mitsubishi Motors’ first newly developed, locally produced model introduction in Taiwan in nine years.

The Xforce is a five-seater compact SUV developed around the concept, “Best-suited buddy for an exciting life.” First launched in Indonesia in November 2023, it has since expanded to multiple markets including Vietnam and the Philippines, and has also been introduced across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and other regions. Positioned as a global strategic model for Mitsubishi Motors, the Xforce has recorded cumulative sales of around 62,000 units and has been well received for its stylish yet rugged SUV design, spacious and comfortable cabin for five passengers, and compact dimensions that support easy maneuverability.

For Taiwan, the Xforce will be produced locally by CMC and tailored to meet local requirements, including compliance with Euro 6c emissions standards. The Taiwan-spec model also brings market-specific enhancements such as an integrated Level-2 equivalent driver assistance package combining Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA), a large 10.25-inch digital display, and a unique blue exterior color developed exclusively for Taiwanese customers.

Mr. Tatsuo Nakamura, Executive Vice President of Mitsubishi Motors, said the company has worked closely with CMC for more than 60 years and developed a dedicated version of the Xforce to strengthen Mitsubishi’s presence and enhance product value in Taiwan. He added that extensive local research shaped the final offering, and early reservations have already exceeded initial expectations, reinforcing confidence ahead of the January sales start.
