Kanagawa, Japan- Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., an automobile manufacturer, has unveiled the X-Trail Nismo in Japan, a performance-oriented SUV that blends sharp handling, refined ride quality, and distinctive Nismo styling. Sales are set to begin on September 24.
The X-Trail Nismo has been engineered to deliver dynamic performance without sacrificing comfort. For the first time in a Nissan, the suspension is equipped with Kayaba Swing Valve shock absorbers, which minimize body movement while maximizing ride comfort — an important balance for a high-riding SUV. Complementing this, the Nismo-tuned e-4ORCE all-wheel control system increases rear-wheel drive distribution and optimizes front tire control, enhancing stability and precision when accelerating through corners. Each drive mode has also been uniquely calibrated for acceleration and torque distribution, offering a responsive yet adaptable driving experience.
To further sharpen handling, the SUV rides on Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires fitted to exclusive 20-inch Enkei wheels, which are both lightweight and rigid thanks to the MAT manufacturing process. Steering has been optimized to work in harmony with the tires and suspension, while a specially tuned Vehicle Control Module introduces two key settings: SPORT mode for heightened responsiveness and AUTO mode for smooth, effortless acceleration during everyday driving.
The design of the X-Trail Nismo reflects both performance and functionality. Dark chrome accents across the front end emphasize a bold stance, while a front under spoiler bearing the Nismo logo, red-accented side skirts, and a diffuser-style rear design contribute to improved aerodynamics. Together, these enhancements reduce lift by 29 percent compared to the base model, improving overall stability. The exclusive 20-inch wheels not only sharpen aesthetics but also aid brake cooling and airflow efficiency.
Inside, the cabin combines the practicality and comfort of the standard X-Trail with Nismo’s sporty DNA. A black-and-red theme underscores its premium feel, while optional Nismo-tuned Recaro sports seats add greater support during cornering without compromising on comfort, thanks to power reclining and heating functions.
With the launch of the X-Trail Nismo, Nissan extends its motorsport heritage into the SUV segment, offering Japanese customers a model that merges everyday usability with thrilling driving dynamics.
