Bangalore- Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd (TKM)., has introduced new Neo Drive 48V variants of its SUVs the Fortuner and Legender bringing advanced mild-hybrid technology to India’s premium SUV segment. This upgrade combines enhanced performance, fuel efficiency, and comfort, marking a segment-first innovation.
The new Neo Drive system pairs Toyota’s robust 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a 48-Volt belt-integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery. This setup offers smoother low-end torque, quieter operation, and better fuel economy. Regenerative braking captures energy during deceleration, while the Smart Idle Start-Stop feature reduces fuel use and emissions in traffic.
Despite the efficiency enhancements, the Fortuner and Legender retain their powerful off-road capability and payload strength. The Multi-Terrain Select system intelligently adjusts throttle, braking, and traction for different surfaces, making them equally suitable for highways and rugged terrain.
Design-wise, the Fortuner continues to showcase a bold and muscular stance, ideal for adventure seekers. In contrast, the Legender brings a sleeker, dual-tone styling with sharp LED headlamps and a more dynamic presence. Both models feature dual-tone leather interiors, soft-touch materials, and ergonomically designed seating for long-distance comfort.
Safety remains a core focus, with features including seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist, Traction Control, Brake Assist, and child safety systems. These ensure peace of mind for both urban and off-road users.
To further enhance ownership experience, Toyota is offering flexible finance options, including up to 8-year loan terms with low EMIs, Smart Balloon Finance, and pre-approved value-added services such as extended warranty and accessories. A standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty (extendable to 5 years/220,000 km) and five years of complimentary roadside assistance add further value.
With the launch of the Fortuner and Legender Neo Drive 48V variants, Toyota reinforces its commitment to sustainability, customer satisfaction, and innovative mobility solutions tailored to the evolving needs of Indian consumers.
Mr. Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, said, “As the SUV market in India grows steadily, customers are seeking advanced features and differentiated styling, both the Fortuner and Legender rise to meet these expectations with their bold design, powerful performance and comprehensive features, catering seamlessly to the needs of diverse users.
