Toyota Launches Urban Cruiser Ebella EV in India

Mumbai- Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt ltd., has announced the launch of the All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking Toyota’s entry into India’s Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segment. Built on Toyota’s global expertise in electrified mobility, the Urban Cruiser Ebella brings together bold SUV styling, a spacious and premium cabin, advanced technology, and smooth, confident electric performance designed for Indian customers.

Derived from the Urban SUV Concept, the All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella represents an important step in Toyota’s multi-pathway approach, offering customers a wider choice of electrified powertrain technologies while supporting India’s goals of energy security and decarbonization. The model reflects Toyota’s commitment to providing sustainable mobility solutions without compromising on choice, practicality, or driving pleasure.

Mr. Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, highlighted Toyota’s more than three decades of global expertise in electrified technologies. He noted that over 38 million Toyota electrified vehicles on roads worldwide have already contributed to reducing more than 197 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. He added that Toyota’s philosophy of Mass Happiness, with carbon neutrality at its core, has guided the development and launch readiness of the company’s first BEV in India, ensuring a seamless and worry-free ownership experience aligned with global standards.

Mr. Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President – Sales, Service, Used Car Business & Profit Enhancement, stated that the All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella showcases an authentic SUV character inspired by Toyota’s ‘Urban Tech’ design philosophy. Its bold hammerhead design and three-dimensional surfaces create a strong futuristic road presence. The vehicle is offered with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options, with the larger battery delivering 128 kW of power, 189 Nm of torque, and a certified driving range of up to 543 km (ARAI) on a single charge.

Developed on a dedicated BEV platform, the Urban Cruiser Ebella delivers instant torque, smooth acceleration, and balanced handling through a low center of gravity and optimized aerodynamics for a quiet and refined drive. The vehicle supports multiple charging options, including CCS2 DC fast charging, AC wall-mount chargers, and a portable charging cable, making everyday charging convenient and hassle-free.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella features a bold SUV design with a wide stance, a strong lower bumper with glossy black finish, stylish side mouldings, and distinctive rear lamps that enhance its road presence. Premium LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a compact turning radius contribute to confident handling and urban agility.

Inside, the vehicle offers a contemporary and premium cabin with dual-tone interiors, soft-touch materials, and a distinctive two-spoke squircle steering wheel. A spacious layout with sliding rear seats, 40:20:40 split-folding configuration, panoramic roof, and ambient lighting with 12 colour options enhances comfort and versatility. Features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging, JBL sound system, automatic climate control, in-cabin air purifier, and multiple USB ports ensure a refined driving experience.

The All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella is equipped with advanced connected technologies, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with cloud-based navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota’s i-Connect suite offers over 100 connected features, enabling remote charging, battery monitoring, climate control, and emergency assistance for a personalized ownership experience.

Safety remains a key focus, with the Urban Cruiser Ebella meeting Toyota’s global safety standards through a combination of active and passive systems. These include seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, ABS with EBD, ESP, a high-tensile body structure, and Level-2 ADAS features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control, along with a 360-degree camera and parking sensors.

Toyota also emphasizes a seamless ownership experience through its Assured Service ecosystem. Customers benefit from over 500 BEV-enabled service touchpoints across India, 24×7 roadside assistance, advanced diagnostic infrastructure, and more than 2,500 BEV-trained master technicians. The offering is further strengthened by an 8-year battery warranty, Battery-as-a-Service option, and an Assured Buy Back program providing up to 60% residual value after three years.

The All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in a range of monotone and dual-tone colour options, including Enticing Silver, Café White, Sportin Red, Gaming Grey, Bluish Black, and Land Breeze Green. Customers can further personalise their vehicle with a wide range of accessories, allowing them to tailor the SUV to their individual style and preferences.
