Gurugram- Volvo Auto India Private Limited., previewed its latest battery-electric SUV, the EX30, at SPL Volvo in Kolkata, setting a fresh benchmark for compact electric SUVs in the country. The official India launch with prices is slated for the end of September, with customer deliveries beginning in October 2025. For the domestic market, the EX30 is being assembled at Volvo’s Hosakote plant near Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Positioned as Volvo’s most sustainable car yet, the EX30 boasts the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo to date. Its minimalist Scandinavian cabin makes extensive use of recycled and responsibly sourced materials—including denim, PET bottles, aluminium, and repurposed PVC—without compromising on tactile quality. Safety remains central to the brand’s ethos: the EX30 has earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating and features an intersection auto-brake, a door-opening alert to help prevent “dooring” incidents, and Volvo’s Safe Space Technology, which integrates five cameras, five radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for comprehensive situational awareness.

The in-car experience is designed to be immersive and intuitive. Five ambient lighting themes paired with soundscapes inspired by Scandinavian seasons create a calming atmosphere, while a Harman Kardon soundbar with a 1040 W amplifier and nine speakers delivers rich, room-filling audio. A 12.3-inch high-resolution central display runs Google built-in, supports 5G connectivity, and receives over-the-air updates. The EX30’s design has already earned global recognition, including the Red Dot: Best of the Best Product Design 2024 and the World Urban Car of the Year 2024 awards.

Ownership and everyday use are made simpler with an eight-year battery warranty and a wall-box charger included as standard. Access is modern and seamless: an NFC card lets you tap to unlock, while Digital Key Plus via the Volvo Cars app turns your smartphone into a secure key—convenient, smart, and secure.

In its Single Motor – Extended Range specification, the EX30 produces 272 hp and 343 Nm from a 69 kWh lithium-ion battery, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. WLTP range is rated at 480 km. Practicality is enhanced by a 7-litre front storage compartment and a 318-litre boot, while 171 mm of ground clearance (kerb weight plus one occupant) supports varied Indian road conditions. One-Pedal Drive, LED headlamps, Nordico upholstery, and a dedicated battery safety cage underscore the blend of comfort, tech, and protection. Connectivity and driver-assist features include Google built-in (Assistant, Maps, Play), OTA updates, wireless phone charging, and the Volvo Cars app (ready by the time deliveries commence). A comprehensive ADAS suite brings a reversing camera, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Pilot Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Collision Mitigation Support front and rear, and parking sensors at both ends.
