Volvo debuts the ES90

Gothenburg, Sweden- Volvo Car AB., a manufacturer of luxury vehicles, has introduced the all-new ES90, a fully electric vehicle that defies conventional classifications. With a design that blends the elegance of a sedan, the versatility of a fastback, and the spaciousness of an SUV, the ES90 creates a category of its own, offering a perfect balance of comfort, performance, and innovation. 

The ES90 features a refined Scandinavian design, incorporating a sleek yet commanding profile. Its slightly raised ride height ensures a confident stance, while the flowing roofline enhances aerodynamics and efficiency. Signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights and distinctive C-shaped LED taillights further establish its modern identity. With seven exterior colors and four wheel options (ranging from 20 to 22 inches), customers can personalize their ES90 to match their style.

The vehicle’s wide tailgate hatch allows for easy loading and unloading, making it an ideal companion for both daily commutes and long adventures. The 424-litre boot space, expandable to 733 litres with the rear seats folded, provides ample storage. Additionally, a 22-litre frunk offers extra space for essentials like charging cables. 

Inside, the ES90 exudes premium craftsmanship, featuring authentic materials and an ergonomic layout. A long 3.1-metre wheelbase ensures generous legroom for second-row passengers. The cabin’s ambient lighting, available in six themes, adds to the sensory experience. 

A panoramic roof with UV protection and an electrochromic option allows passengers to control light exposure. Climate control is enhanced by a four-zone system with an advanced air purifier, capable of blocking 95% of PM2.5 particulates and removing 99.9% of allergens. Meanwhile, enhanced sound insulation creates one of Volvo’s quietest cabins ever, amplifying the experience of the Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 25 high-fidelity speakers and Dolby Atmos® technology.

The ES90 is equipped with Volvo’s latest Google-based infotainment system, featuring a 9-inch driver display, a 14.5-inch center touchscreen, and a 5G-capable Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform. A 360-degree 3D camera enhances parking convenience, ensuring seamless maneuverability in tight spaces. 

Built on the SPA2 architecture, the ES90 introduces Volvo’s most advanced core computing technology, powered by dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processors. This configuration enables continuous software improvements via over-the-air updates, ensuring optimal safety and performance throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. 

The ES90 debuts Volvo’s 800V battery technology, delivering faster charging and greater efficiency. At a 350 kW fast charger, it can add 300 km of range in just 10 minutes, with a total range of up to 700 km (WLTP cycle). With a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, the ES90 is Volvo’s most aerodynamically efficient vehicle to date. 

True to Volvo’s legacy, the ES90 is engineered for unparalleled safety. It meets Volvo’s rigorous Safety Standard, developed from 55 years of real-world crash data, exceeding industry requirements. The reinforced safety cage, state-of-the-art restraint systems, and optimized crumple zones provide maximum protection. 

A sensor suite comprising five radars, seven cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors, and a Luminar LiDAR system enables comprehensive hazard detection. The driver monitoring system detects attention loss, while door-opening alerts prevent accidental collisions with cyclists or pedestrians. Additionally, occupant sensing technology can detect even the smallest movements, such as the soft breathing of a baby, preventing accidental child or pet entrapment. 

The ES90 is now available for order in select European markets, including Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, and the UK, with more regions to follow through 2026.
